39.7lb (18 kgs) Brown Trout caught in New Zealand

"I bet the fish are big over there" A common response from fishermen I meet here in Sweden.

This fish fell short of the world record by a few pounds !
But the record is still held by another Brown Trout caught in N.Z

The IGFA (International Game and Fish Association) has officially certified a new All-Tackle World Record for brown trout.

Otwin Kandolf was fly fishing near a salmon farm on the Ohau B hydro canal on New Zealand's South Island when he caught the fish of a lifetime - a 42-pound, 1 ounce (18 kgs) brown trout.
